The Blue Minds Academy is an 8-week online leadership accelerator that equips young people with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to turn their passion for the ocean and environment into real-world action.
By the end of the program, every participant has developed a tangible ocean or environmental project, expanded their professional network, and gained the tools to continue creating lasting lasting impact long after the Academy concludes.
From turtle conservation and microplastics solutions to youth advisory councils and volunteering initiatives, these emerging leaders are turning passion into real-world impact.

Cohort 1
FishTank x Blue Minds: Australia's Youth Ocean Innovation Pathway
FishTank and Blue Minds have partnered to create Australia's Youth Ocean Innovation Pathway — helping young Australians move from ocean awareness to real-world action.
Together, we believe young people have the creativity, leadership and determination to help solve some of the biggest challenges facing our ocean.
Through FishTank, students are invited to identify ocean challenges, develop innovative solutions, and showcase their ideas through a national competition. With prize funding, live pitching opportunities, and exposure through the Ocean Lovers Festival, participants gain a platform to bring their ideas to life.
Blue Minds complements this journey by providing leadership development, mentorship, community, and pathways for young people who want to take their impact further. Together, we are creating opportunities for students to:

FishTank participants will gain visibility into further opportunities available through Blue Minds, including the Academy and Wavechangers community.
By combining innovation, education, leadership and action, FishTank and Blue Minds are helping build the next generation of ocean changemakers across Australia.
Council Leadership Structure
General Advisory Council Member
Directly input into the Wavechangers platform, be a voice for young people in our decisions, app design and testing. Further opportunities include representing Blue Minds at events and Blue Minds stall at school career expos, helping create social media content, or speaking at school assemblies.
Advisory Council Leadership Team
Leadership positions within the Wavechangers Advisory Council include becoming a Regional Coordinator, one per state (e.g. the Wavechangers NSW Coordinator) which covers leading content on upcoming opportunities in your area, scholarships and resources to share.
